Physical Properties of Long Island Sound Sediment Cores

Core G1C2 was taken on June 21, 1996 in 5 meters of water. The core measured 62.5 cm in length and was x-rayed on June 25,1996. This core was frozen during the x-radiograph and ice crystals are visible in the x-ray image. Features noted are seen in the x-ray above and include mottled sediment, sand and mud ribbons, wispy sand deposits, and some biological features.
