  • Attribute_Accuracy:
    Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
    • The data have been thoroughly analyzed for gross inaccuracies. A few beach samples were taken on the beach between the edge of the beach and the toe of the beach, these samples were not annotated with a point number and were assigned a point number later. The actual location of these points may vary by several meters one way or the other along the line.
  • Logical_Consistency_Report:
Grainsize analysis was done using methods from Carver (Carver, Robert E., Procedures in Sedimentary Petrology, 1971).Composition Analyses were done using a binocular microscope. Up to 500 grains per sample over -.5 phi in size were identified and counted. A few samples did not have enough viable grains (large enough) for analysis and were not counted. In the GIS section, a few beach locations did not have any location information and were left out of this section.

Spatial_Data_Organization_Information:

Indirect_Spatial_Reference:
Navigation Data for Offshore Samples was provided in digital form and exported to GIS/Arc Info to make maps which include Navigation lines, Sample Sites and Sediment Thickness maps. The Waikiki and Kailua maps also include digital photo images which were registered and rectified to existing coastline data using GIS/Arc Info. Digital beach survey data provided by the Hawaii Coastal Erosion Study: Open-file Report 01-308 Hawaii Beach Monitoring Program: Beach Profile Data.
