An orthogneiss, sample 69MW1703 contains K-feldspar
(35%), plagioclase (30%), quartz (25%), biotite (8%), oxides (2%), and
trace epidote. Thin gneissic banding occurs throughout. K-feldspar
porphyroclasts are up to 10mm in length and wrapped by biotite. Abundant
oxides often fill fractures, suggesting hydrothermal alteration. |
