Sample: 81MW0010 - Granite

GRANITE

Sample 81MW0010 is a granite with a composition of K-feldspar (40%), plagioclase (25%), quartz (25%), chlorite (2%), oxides (1%), and trace muscovite, sphene, and epidote. Perthitic K-feldspar porphyries are intergrown with plagioclase and are in some places rimmed by quartz. Plagioclase occurs as smaller porphyries and matrix grains, showing albite twinning and seritization. Quartz exhibits serrated grains, undulose extinction, subgrain development, and minor recrystallization. Chlorite rims oxides and sphene grains, and probably replaced all biotite. Chlorite and elongate plagioclase grains define a foliation.
