Sample: 95MW0212 - Syenitic Mylonite

SYENITIC MYLONITE

Sample 95MW0212 is a syenitic protomylonite containing K-feldspar (70%), plagioclase (25%), unidentifiable fine matrix material (4%), oxides (1%), and trace epidote. K-feldspar is up to 40% perthitic and tartan twinned, occurring in the matrix and as porphyries. Plagioclase shows albite twinning and subgrains in non-recrystallized clasts. Matrix material is ultra fine-grained and shows a high birefringence. It is probably a "mesh" of felsic minerals. Oxides occur as rounded, bulbous grains, in proximity to epidote.
