Frequently-anticipated questions:

What does this data set describe?

Title:

Polygon coverage of exisiting boundaries of California State waters in the area of the northern Channel Islands

Abstract:
This shapefile includes the Channel Islands Marine Protected Areas. Pending Office of Administrative Law approval MPAs in effect as of January 1, 2003.

Supplemental_Information:

Additional information about the field activities from which this data set was derived are available online at: <http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd/channel_islands/>

Coordinates used in this file were rounded to the nearest 1/10th of a minute Latitude and Longitude, with the exception of the southeast corner of Scorpion SMR. Coordinates were determined using the program ChartView Planner version 3.00.155, Copyright 2000 by Nobeltec Corporation. For reference purposes in MPA site placement, electronic charts by MAPTECH Digital Chart Kit, 2001 for Southern California were used.
