Report Site Map > Graphics of Streamflow and Nutrient Flux
Graphics of annual nutrient fluxes and annual mean streamflow are included for each station in this report. Water-quality parameters graphed include dissolved nitrite plus nitrate, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, dissolved orthophosphate, and dissolved silica. Total nitrogen was calculated as the sum of dissolved nitrite plus nitrate and total Kjeldahl nitrogen. Graphics of total Kjeldahl nitrogen and dissolved ammonia were not included, as the contribution of flux from these water-quality parameters is also contained in the total nitrogen flux, which is the more commonly referred to water-quality parameter discussed in other nutrient studies. Dissolved ammonia fluxes also typically contributed only a small portion of total nitrogen fluxes.
Graphics of monthly nutrient fluxes and monthly mean streamflow were included only for nutrient delivery to the Gulf of Mexico for the last 10 years of the study (water years 1996–2005). Additional graphics, such as annual April though June nutrient delivery to the Gulf of Mexico for the period of record and net nutrient fluxes and yields for the the five large subbasins can be found in the two discussion sections, Discussion of Streamflow and Nutrient Delivery to the Gulf of Mexico and Discussion of Net Nutrient Flux for Five Large Subbasins Comprising the Mississippi-Atchafalaya River Basin, respectively.
