Abstract:
Two sample collection cruises were conducted in 1990 (J-1-90-SF and J-2-90-SF) covering San Francisco Bay. A selection of gravity cores from south San Francisco Bay were split, photographed, and imaged by X-rays. Several cores were subsampled for grain size analyses, radiocarbon dating, and modeled as synthetic cores. Graphic cores were constructed for 51 samples described in the accompanying report. The shapefile ssfb_1990.shp provides information about types of analyses applied to the samples.
Purpose:
These data are intended for science researchers, students, policy makers, and the general public. The data can be used with geographic information systems (GIS) software to display geologic and oceanographic information.
