Abstract
During the past 4 years, scientists of the Geological Survey, in cooperation with NASA, have been investigating the feasibility and practicality of using remote-sensor data collected during conventional aircraft flights. This work is aimed at developing techniques for gathering facts about the earth's natural resources from satellites carrying sophisticated remote-sensing instruments. These experiments have vividly demonstrated our ability to study and assess natural resources from remotely-sensored data. Discussion of a few of these experiments will illustrate this point.
