Abstract
The only formally endorsed prediction of an earthquake in the Unites States appears to be holding up well. The magnitude 5.6 Parkfield Earthquake, expected to strike a section of the San Andreas in sparsely populated central California in January 1988, give or take 5 years, would appear to be on schedule despite a jolt to the Parkfield area from the nearby Coalinga earthquake.
