Abstract

Deposits of oxidized zinc-bearing ores are widely distributed in Nevada, except in the northwest corner, and are abundant in Inyo and San Bernardino Counties in the northern desert region of California. Known deposits elsewhere in the two States are few, widely spaced, and generally small. The main production has been restricted to relatively few districts in Nevada such as Aurum, Ely, Lone Mountain (Eureka County), Pioche, and Goodsprings, and to a small area in eastern California that extends from near Mountain Pass north-westward through Tecopa, Trona, Darwin, and Cerro Gordo to near Big Pine in the Inyo Range. Most of the known reserves are in the same relatively small area.
