Abstract
The accompanying report on the iron deposits of the North American continent also includes information concerning the deposits of the West Indies. The geogrphic order of desription is as follows: Alaska, Canada, United States, Mexico, Cuba, and Puerto Rico.
A map of each country shows the generalized geologic pattern of the area and the location for selected iron deposits. The descriptions of individual districts or deposits present, insofar as were found available, data on the geologic occurrence, shape, size, grade, and estimated reserves.
The term "iron deposit" is used as a general designation for occurrences in which iron-ore minerals or protors minerals are abundant; the deposit may or may not be commercially valuable at the present time. "Iron ore" and "iron-ore deposit" are restricted to minerals that are, or are likely to be, of value to industry.
