Technique for estimating depth of 100-year floods in New Jersey
Techniques are developed for use in estimating 100-year flood depths on New Jersey streams. Equations and graphs are presented relating the 100-year flood depth above the mean annual flood to drainage area and area of lakes and swamps. Separate relations for the Coastal Plain and non-Coastal Plain streams in the four hydrologic areas in New Jersey are shown. A method of mapping flood-prone areas on U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute topographic quadrangles is detailed. (Woodard-USGS)
