Abstract

The northern section of the Imperial Valley region in southern California is an area of known geothermal resources and high seismicity. To investigate the relationship between geothermal areas and earthquakes in the Imperial Valley, a 16-station seismic network was established in early 1973 by the U. S. Geological Survey. Six more stations were added to the network in November 1976. This catalog contains a description of the network and a list of preliminary data on earthquakes detected and recorded by the network from October 1978 through December 1973.
