Abstract
Preliminary 1985 water use estimates are tabulated by State for the Und States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia. Preliminary estimates of water withdrawn from surface water and groundwater sources for offstream water use categories are presented prior to publication of the final estimates in a U.S. Geological Survey Circular to allow for the timely release of the estimates to the general public.
