Abstract
Text and copies of slides for a paper presented at the meeting of the Southeastern Section of the Geological Society of America in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, March 19, 1992. The Barite Hill mine is located in the southern part
of the Carolina slate belt of South Carolina just north of the Georgia border.
