Water Resources Division of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with State agencies, obtains a large amount of data pertaining to the water resources of Minnesota each water year. These data, accumulated during many years, constitute a valuable data base for developing an improved understanding of the water resources of the State. To make these data readily available to interested parties outside the USGS, the data are published annually in this report series entitled 'Water Resources Data - Minnesota.'
Water-resources data for the 1998 water year (hereinafter 1998) for Minnesota consist of records of stage, discharge, and water quality of streams; and stage of lakes and reservoirs; and water quality of ground water. This volume contains discharge records for 102 stream-gaging stations; stage for 9 lakes and reservoirs; water quality for 22 stream-gaging stations; and peak flow data for 87 high-flow partial-record stations. These data represent a part of the National Water Data System collected by the U.S. Geological Survey and cooperating State and Federal agencies in Minnesota.
