EAGLE RIVER BASIN

09064500 HOMESTAKE CREEK NEAR RED CLIFF, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 39°28'24", long 106°22'02", in NE14NE14 sec.6, T.7 S., R.80 W., Eagle County, Hydrologic Unit 14010003, on right bank at downstream side of Forest Service road bridge, 2.4 mi south of Red Cliff, and 3.0 mi upstream from mouth.

DRAINAGE AREA.--58.2 mi2.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1910 to September 1918, May 1944 to current year. Published as "at Redcliff" October 1910 to September 1916. Statistical summary computed for 1967 to current year. REVISED RECORDS.--WDR CO-88-2: Drainage area.

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 8,783 ft above NGVD of 1929 (river-profile survey). See WSP 1713 or 1733 for history of changes prior to May 8, 1961.

REMARKS.--Records good except for discharges above 300 ft3/s, which are fair, and estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated by Homestake Lake (capacity,44,360 acre-ft) since June 7, 1966. Transmountain diversions upstream from station through Homestake Tunnel (see elsewhere in this report) since June 6, 1967. Several measurements of specific conductance and water temperature were obtained and are published in the "Supplemental Water-Quality Data For Gaging Stations" section of this report.
