Scooting down the ladder from the fantail to the galley, Seaman Earl "Skip" Moody is surprised by the photographer's flashgun.  During heavy seas or foul weather, the forward ports of the  Research Vessel GOSNOLD are closed off, and crew and scientists alike use protected unit to deck.  Seaman Moody - the newest member of the GOSNOLD's 9-man crew - loves the sea, spending an average of 25 days a month afloat.
