Open-File Report 03-088
The following pages contain thumbnail images of all seismic reflection profiles collected during USGS Cruise 01RCE02. To view a profile, click on the desired thumbnail, and a full-size version will appear. The profiles, which are stored as GIF images by trackline number, can also be found within the FULLSIZE subfolders of the BOOMER and CHIRP subfolders of the PROFILES folder located at the top level of this DVD.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE SEG-Y DATA FILES:
The seismic data files are binary encoded and cannot be viewed directly. Attempts to view the files in a text window or browser will result in long loading times and unrecognizable characters being displayed. For this reason, the best way to download the data files is to NOT use a web browser. To download the data, open the the BOOMER and CHIRP subfolders of the SEGY folder located at the top level of this DVD, select the SEG-Y files you wish to download, and either drag and drop these files onto your hard drive or use the copy command. The SEG-Y formatted files have a .TRA extension. The files with a .PAR extension are parameter files used by Delph Seismic software. There is no need to download the .PAR files unless you are using Delph Seismic software to play back the data. The UTM_401_1.pln and cent_rmc.pln files are also for use by Delph Seismic software to playback the data.
WARNING: These files can be very large.
A detailed description of the SEG-Y DATA FORMAT has been provided.
Formal Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) METADATA for the seismic reflection data and for accompanying shotpoint navigation maps has been provided.
