Abstract

Quantitative estimates of ground-water pumpage from the principal ground-water basins in California are necessary for future appraisal studies, for constructing hydrologic  models, and for systematic planning of water use and conservation. Methods of estimating pumpage for this report are based on metered pumpages, on electric-power consumption and fuel consumption by internal-combustion engines or agricultural wells, and on duty of water for municipal areas. This report is the third of a series planned to include the Central Valley of California.
