A 3.5 KHz echo-sounder towfish is retrieved at the end of a cruise of the R/V Farnella in 1985. By emitting high frequency sounds into the water and listening to and recording the echoes from the seafloor, the echo-sounder creates depth profiles of the ocean bottom.
