Dr. John S. Schlee, USGS, separates the pulverized sediments into a graduated cylinder. The silts and clays wash down into a lower container while sands and coarser materials remain in the sieve at the top. Dr. Schlee is studying the texture of the sediments from the U.S. coastal plain and the Atlantic Continental Shelf under a USGS-WHOI jointly sponsered project. |
