Metadata

All ESRI (www.esri.com) ArcView 3.2 shapefiles, raster image and grid files have associated metadata describing the dataset, and all pertinent information, in great detail. All of these data files are listed below with a link to the corresponding metadata file.

Shapefiles are generally comprised of *.shp, *.shx, *.dbf, *.sbn, *.sbx, and *.shx. At a minimum, the *.shp, *.shx, and *.dbf files are required in order to successfully view and manipulate a shapefile. For the sake of brevity, only the filename prefix has been included in the filename designation listed below; extensions have been excluded.

Each shapefile, raster image or grid has a corresponding legend file, *.avl that is used within the of02-152.apr project file. Legend files are stored in the arcview/avl directory. The legend file is listed at the end of the file description for reference.

The vector shapefiles are available for download in *.zip format. The User will need the WinZip program in order to extract the files comprising a given shapefile. Alternatively, the User can navigate to the directory containing a shapefile and copy all files to a local hard drive maintaining the directory structure and naming convention of the DVD-ROM.
