SAMPLE_ID:  03MW0102

DATE: 5/20/1998

Sample: 03MW0102 - Quartz Monzonite

QUARTZ MONZONITE

Sample 03MW0102 is an unfoliated quartz monzonite with a composition of K-feldspar (50%), plagioclase (35%), quartz (8%), chlorite (2%), biotite (2%), muscovite (1%), and trace sphene, epidote, and oxides. There is little evidence of deformation in the sample. Perthitic K-feldspar phenocrysts show fractures that are filled with quartz. Intergrowths of plagioclase and K-feldspar are common. Plagioclase is altered to sericite and sausserite. It is unclear as to whether chlorite is intergrown with or replacing biotite
