USGS Open-File Report Channel Islands multibeam data: data

This Open-File Report contains the bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data from the 2004 multibeam survey in the Northeastern Channel Islands region, Southern California (see location map). The data are provided in three formats (ESRI's ArcInfo GRID, ASCII XYZ and TIFF) that can be used in a number of GIS and other spatial analysis software packages.

Both the bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data are provided as common grids of the entire survey area at 15- spatial resolution.

XYZ Format

1. Download the file to the desktop.

2. Uncompress the files. The files are compressed with WinZip 7.0.

3. The uncompression will result in a new comma delimited file (i.e. bathyll.xyz).

ArcInfo GRID

1. Download the file to the desktop.

2. Uncompress the files. The files are compressed with WinZip 7.0.

3. The uncompression will result in a new file in ESRI's interchange format (i.e. bathyutmg.e00).

4. Import into ArcGIS using Arctools.
