Restoration - Restoration of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin

The population is growing rapidly in many areas of the Basin, especially the Florida Parishes, bringing far-reaching changes in land-use patterns. Unplanned and poorly planned growth are causing loss of habitat and a decline in water quality.

LPBF has participated in the following actions designed to address these issues:

  1. The establishment of the 15,000-acre Big Branch National Wildlife Refuge in St. Tammany Parish, as well as other greenways throughout the Basin (Figure 6).
  2. The development of New Directions 2025, a comprehensive land use plan for St. Tammany Parish.
