U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2009-1002
Digital Seismic-Reflection Data from Western Rhode Island Sound, 1980
|
This report contains seismic-reflection data from western Rhode Island Sound in TIFF, PNG, GIF, and SEG-Y formats. Ancillary vector data are presented in Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) shapefile format, including National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration polygon shoreline, navigation point, and trackline shapefiles, which are provided in the Geographic Coordinate System in the WGS84 datum. A shot-point text file is provided in Universal Transverse Mercator projection, WGS84 datum, in a format that can be imported into a seismic-interpretation package. When this report is accessed from the DVD-ROM, the top level of the report contains an ArcView 3.3 project file (wris_seis.apr) and an ESRI ArcMap document (wris_seis.mxd) created in ArcMap 9.2, but saved as an ArcMap 9.0/9.1 document to make it accessible in older versions. These files contain the data layers of this report already loaded. If the user does not have access to the ESRI software or a compatible GIS data browser, a free viewer, ArcExplorer, is available from ESRI (www.esri.com). Each GIS data layer from this publication is cataloged below for easy access. The individual data-layer name is linked to a browser graphic that will open in a separate browser window and display an image of the data layer. Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) metadata for the individual data layers are provided in HTML, FAQ HTML, and text versions. Selecting associated metadata files from the table below will open the information in a new browser window. A 'Zip' compressed, downloadable archive file containing the components of each navigation and shoreline data layer is also provided. Compressed, downloadable files were created using the Windows program WINZIP v9.0. Users who do not have software capable of uncompressing the archived Zip files can obtain a free version of the software from Pkware, Inc. TIFF, PNG, and SEG-Y files are linked to the Seismic Profiles page, where they can be individually downloaded from the Data Listing. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
