Digital Seismic-Reflection Data from Western Rhode Island Sound, 1980
|
NECH80-1 Seismic Profiles The seismic-reflection profiles obtained during the R/V Neecho cruise in western Rhode Island Sound during 1980 can be accessed in the data listing below. Trackline Map Low-resolution GIF images can be accessed through the interactive trackline map below (fig. 3) by clicking on a line number. The seismic-line preview image will be displayed in a new browser window.
Figure 3. Map of tracklines from cruise NECH80-1 in western Rhode Island Sound. Data Listing Seismic-reflection profiles can be viewed and downloaded through the table below. Clicking on the name of a preview image will open in a new browser window the low-resolution GIF images of the seismic line that were downsampled from the grayscale TIFF images and correspond to the SEG-Y line segments. The preview images have been reduced to 96 dpi with a maximum width of 1,000 pixels. Clicking on the black and white TIFF file name will allow the user to download the 300-dpi black and white TIFF image of the seismic line. The TIFF image can then be opened using appropriate graphics software (such as Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2, or Corel Draw). Clicking on the grayscale PNG file name will open the image in a new browser window; however, the user can save the file by right-clicking on the name, selecting Save Target As..., saving it in an appropriate location, and opening it with graphics software (such as Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2, or Corel Draw). The PNG files are provided at 200-dpi resolution. When these files are viewed with an Internet browser, their appearance is improved by viewing them under 2- to 4x magnification. A 'Zip' compressed, downloadable archive file containing the SEG-Y data for each line is also provided. Compressed, downloadable files were created using the Windows program WINZIP v9.0. Users who do not have software capable of uncompressing the archived Zip files can obtain a free version of unzip software from Pkware, Inc. Users of SEG-Y data may want to view the TIFF images or access the cruise logbook through the link at the end of the Cruise Report and Seismic Logbook section of this report to see field notes about data acquisition and weather conditions. Users should also note that the SEG-Y data and corresponding GIF and PNG images may have slightly different line-segment lengths than the TIFF images, as some SEG-Y lines needed to be further divided into sections during the processing. By clicking on "Black and white TIFF," "Grayscale PNG," or "SEG-Y data" in the table below, the user can download multiple files from a folder containing all the data of each file type.
