Table 1. Characteristics of individual paraffin- and sand-constructed artificial sand and oil agglomerates (aSOAs) used as proxies in evaluating the mobility of sand and oil agglomerates (SOAs). The high value of critical stress (τc) is calculated following Shields (1936) as described by Soulsby (1997). The medium and low estimates of critical stress account for the reduced critical stress values associated with exposure above the seafloor as described by Plant and others (2013) and Dalyander and others (2014). Measurements are in centimeters (cm), grams (g), cubic centimeters (cm3) kilograms per cubic meter (k/cm3), and pascals (Pa).
