Display images of the field by clicking on highlighted (generally underlined) key words. Alternately, the GIF files (including numerous incremental images that are not listed below) are stored in the ewporosv directory and can be displayed as a slide show using an external viewer, such as JPEGView or LView. The ewporosv.MOV (east-west vertical slices of porosity, single fork) is a 14 MB stand-alone movie file located in the movies folder. Movies are called up much quicker directly from the folder than from the below text hook, although the animation speed is similar. Should you have trouble accessing and displaying images, try increasing available memory by closing all unnecessary windows and software programs.

Technical information on data sources and methodologies is stored in techinfo.htm. Start the movie display of east-west-oriented vertical porosity slices using E-W movie (ewporosv.MOV). Before the movie can be opened, you may need to copy to your hard drive movie-viewing program; information on how to acquire this freeware and software is listed in the readme for movies file.

Plan view of field area (hslicsmf.gif); north is at the top of the map. Seaward boundaries of sand ridges mark the approximate eastern limits of sandstone bodies that comprise the House Creek field. These boundaries are not labeled on the slices; however, they were used in the 3-D computer gridding procedure to confine porosity limits within sand ridges. The subsequent (ssxhome.gif) image is vertical slice 12 of the field at the -32,000 m Y-axis location; vertical exaggeration is 20 times. Reservoir-grade intervals are shown on the left color bar by green through red (8 to 21 percent porosity); low-porosity non-reservoir intervals are purple and blue (1 to 8 percent porosity).

West-east- and north-south-oriented vertical slices are spaced at 500 m (1,524 ft) intervals. Explanation and index map are included on images. The two color bars represent 1) porosity in increments of 1 percent and 2) contours of 40 MBO per well; a barrel of oil is equivalent to 42 U.S. gallons (158.76 liters). Vertical exaggeration of the 3-D porosity model is 40 times.
