Flow Velocity, Water Temperature, and Conductivity at Selected Locations in Shark River Slough, Everglades National Park, Florida; July 1999 - July 2003

Publications

Three publications document the acquisition, processing, and evaluation of flow velocity, water temperature, and conductivity data presented in this report and collected at the five monitoring stations (GS-203, GS-33, GS-36, NP202, and SH1) in Shark River Slough, ENP, during the 1999-2003 wet seasons. These publications describe the instrumentation; discuss the deployment techniques and data-processing methods; present illustrative examples of flow-velocity, conductivity, and temperature-profile data; provide mean daily flow-velocity summaries; and identify typical horizontal flow speeds and directions at the monitoring locations. These reports are:

U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 02-159: Flow Velocity, Water Temperature, and Conductivity in Shark River Slough, Everglades National Park, Florida: July 1999-August 2001

U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 03-348: Flow Velocity, Water Temperature, and Conductivity in Shark River Slough, Everglades National Park, Florida: August 2001-June 2002

U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 04-1233: Flow Velocity, Water Temperature, and Conductivity in Shark River Slough, Everglades National Park, Florida: June 2002 - July 2003

Additional sets of flow-velocity and water-quality data were collected in the wetlands between canal C-111 and the ENP boundary during September 1997 and 1999. These flow-velocity data are compiled, summarized, and tabulated in USGS Open File Report 00-56 by Ball and Schaffranek (2000) available on the South Florida Information Access (SOFIA) website http://sofia.usgs.gov/publications/ofr/00-56/. The data are available on the SOFIA website.
