Table 2. Classes of sand and oil agglomerate size and density considered in mobility, potential flux analysis, and critical stress in the northern Gulf of Mexico alongshore Alabama and Florida (Plant and others, 2013). Characteristics of artificial sand and oil agglomerates (aSOAs) created to approximate these classes are given in Table 1. Because the physical integrity of the aSOAs relied on a composition of at least 20 percent paraffin, they are slightly less dense with a lower critical stress threshold than the corresponding size classes of genuine sand and oil agglomerates SOAs considered in the numerical modeling effort. Measurements are in centimeters (cm), kilograms per cubic meter (km/m3), and pascals (Pa). |
