U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2012-1219
Carolinas Coastal Change Processes Project data report for nearshore observations at Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, February 2010
Time-Series Plots
Temperature Observations Seawater temperature (degrees C) is shown at all sites. Significant wave height (m) is also included to provide an indication of wave energy.
Water Flow Observations Water flow observations in centimeters per second (cm/s) at individual sites are shown at the surface and at the bottom. Observations are from Teledyne RD Instruments' Workhorse ADCPs and Nortek Aquadopps. At all sites, the surface is the upper-most bin at which data has not been greatly affected by waves or tides. Significant wave height is also shown to provide an indication of wave energy.
Pressure observations are shown at individual sites.Significant wave height (m) from each site is shown in panel 1 to provide an indication of wave energy.
Surface Wave Observations Water level (m), significant wave height (m), peak wave period (s), and peak wave direction (degrees from true North) are shown at individual sites.
