Open-File Report 2007–1194

Documentation of the U.S. Geological Survey Oceanographic Time-Series Measurement Database

Source of Data

Investigators in the USGS Coastal/Marine Hazards and Resources Program (CMHRP, formerly Coastal and Marine Geology Program) and colleagues acquired and processed the data in this database. The CMHRP maintains oceanographic sensors, data-acquisition systems, and platforms for deployment and recovery of instruments in the coastal ocean. Oceanographic time-series data collected by instrumentation maintained by any of the USGS Coastal and Marine Science Centers may be included in this database. In addition to deploying oceanographic instrumentation for field experiments, CMHRP personnel have been responsible for developing software for data processing, evaluating the data, preparing the data for scientific analysis, and enabling the public to access the data.

The current database manager, who is responsible for software development and validation, data quality control, and oversight of data processing, can be reached at stellwagen_manager@usgs.gov or by phone at (508) 548-8700.
