Documentation of the U.S. Geological Survey Oceanographic Time-Series Measurement Database

Database Access Via the Web

The oceanographic data collected as part of CMGP research are released and served on the USGS oceanographic time-series data collection Web site at http://stellwagen.er.usgs.gov. (fig. 32). Users may browse the data collection by using the interactive map in the center of the page to identify experiments of interest. Shift-drag may be used on the map to select and zoom to an area of interest. Clicking on an icon pops up a window displaying the experiment name, the mooring ID and the date range of the data collected at that site. The grey bar at the top of the pop-up displays “1 of {number}”, depending on how many sites are at that location. The arrows to the right of the gray bar may be used to page through the sites. All of the experiments in the region are displayed in the second window.

Because the data were collected for research, they are organized by the experiment in which they were collected. All the experiments are listed below the map, by region, beside the corresponding icon, with links to the experiment pages. “Experiment List” on the menu bar provides a table of information about the research with links to the experiment pages. This table is sortable by column, so allows a user to easily find all the studies done by a specific investigator, or the most recent research programs.
